Choo sprints to 100m record

Amanda Choo, 22, smashed her own national 100m record in the Negri Sembilan Open. She clocked 12.03sec in the morning heats, eclipsing her previous mark set in the 2007 South-east Asia Games in Thailand by 0.09sec. She had said that her coach has been putting her through a lot of speed endurance training which helped her a lot, as she used to slow down a lot towards the end.
After the 9am heats, Amanda clocked 12.17sec in the semi-finals and 12.38sec in the 3pm final. She finished second behind Malaysian Siti Zubaidah with the timing of 12.29sec. Though there were other athletes who topped their respective events, it was Amanda who felt wild with excitement after breaking her personal best.

Clara and Scott qualify for YOG

Two young triathletes, both 17, Clara Wong and Scott Ang participated at the OSIM Singapore International Triathlon. Both earned the right to represent at the maiden Youth Olympic Games held in August after winning the final selection trial at the East Coast Park event. Scott won his challenger, Travis Woodford, by 4min 37 sec at the 75m swim, 20km bike and 5km run race. While Clara won her rival, Samantha Ho, by 7min 45sec. She credited her win to her one-month training under her coach.
Clara is really looking forward to YOG and wants to know how good she is compared to the rest of the world.
